What vegetables should pregnant women avoid eating?

During the postpartum confinement period, a mother's diet should adhere to the principle of warm nourishment, primarily avoiding the intake of raw, cold, cooling, milk-suppressing, and irritating vegetables. Specific examples include: leeks, bitter gourd, winter melon, raw cucumbers, loofah, white radish, bamboo shoots, kelp, and wakame. Additionally, spicy and stimulating foods such as garlic, chili peppers, and Sichuan pepper should be consumed in moderation during lactation.

Vegetable classifications to note:

Vegetables to reduce milk supply (consume cautiously during lactation): leeks, Sichuan pepper, barley tea, etc.

Cold vegetables (may harm the spleen and stomach): bitter gourd, winter melon, cucumber, loofah, white radish, bamboo shoot, eggplant, lotus root, Chinese cabbage, and purslane.

· Spicy and stimulating: chili, garlic, ginger, pepper.

Recommendations and Notes:

· Individual Differences: Due to varying postpartum constitutions, some cold-natured vegetables can be consumed in moderation after thorough cooking.

Dietary pairing: Vegetables should be combined with meat and be diverse in variety to avoid excessive intake of a single type.

· Friendly Reminder: The above information is based on traditional Chinese dietary advice and clinical observations. If you experience known allergies or physical discomfort, seek medical attention promptly.
